Town Office Closures

Due to the impending storm, all non-essential Town Offices, including
Greenwood Center and the Library, will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27. Unless otherwise notified, all Town Offices will be open on Wednesday.

Reminder: Real Estate Tax and Personal Property Bills are due on February 2, 2015.

Payments may be made online through the Town’s website, via mail or in person during office hours. Payments may also be left in the drop-box located by the front door of Town Hall. Please contact the Collector’s Office at (413) 567-1066 with any questions.

Winter Storm Juno Curbside Collection Information

Trash and Recycling pickup has been cancelled for Tuesday, January 27th, 2015. Tuesday’s route shall be picked up Wednesday, January 28th.

Curbside collection will be running behind for the rest of the week starting Wednesday, but please put out all barrels in accordance with your normal collection day (from Wednesday forward). Republic Services will be trying to catch up to their normal route as quickly as possible.

If your trash and recycling does not get picked up on its normal day, it should be picked up the following day.

WINTER STORM JUNO PARKING INFORMATION

There will a Parking Ban in Longmeadow beginning Monday, January 26th when snow starts until 12 hours after the cessation of precipitation.

During a snow emergency parking ban, there shall be NO PARKING at any time on any streets except by Fire, Police, Public Works, other Public Safety vehicles and public utility repair vehicles.

No vehicle shall be parked or positioned in such a manner so as to interfere with snow removal or salting operations. Any vehicle in violation shall be subject to ticketing and towing at the owner’s expense.

Residents are reminded to provide clear access around fire hydrants and to shovel sidewalks and access ramps to sidewalks.  Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation.

Voter Registration

The Registrar of Voters will hold a voter registration session on Friday, January 23, 2015 between the hours of 8:15 am and 8:00 pm at the Town Hall, 20 Williams Street.  In order to vote at the Special Town Meeting, residents must be registered voters in Town.  Any questions, please contact the Town Clerk at 413-565-4103.

Annual Town Election Available Seats

The following positions are available at the upcoming June 9, 2015 Annual Town Election: One 3-year term for Moderator; two 3-year terms for Select Board; two 3-year terms for School Committee; and one 5-year term for Planning Board.  Nomination papers are available at the Town Clerks Office, 20 Williams Street.  The deadline to obtain nomination papers is March 13, 2015 and the deadline to return papers for certification is March 17, 2015.

COA Adult Center kitchen will undergo renovations!

Beginning January 20, 2015 the kitchen at the Adult Center will be closed for renovations. During this time, our Meals on Wheels program will be handled by East Longmeadow Senior Center. Those receiving Meals on Wheels will continue to receive their meals as scheduled. The congregate meals in the dining room will not take place during the renovation. The Adult Center has a list of area meal sites for those interested. We expect the renovation to take approximately 3-4 weeks.

The Select Board voted on January 5, 2015 to schedule the Annual Town Election to be held on June 9, 2015.  If a Preliminary Election is necessary, the date will be May 5, 2015.  Nomination papers are available at the Town Clerk’s Office.  The deadline to obtain nomination papers is March 13, 2015 and the deadline to submit nomination papers for certification is March 17, 2015.
