Absentee ballots are now available in the Town Clerks Office, 20 Williams Street for the upcoming Annual Town Election to be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015.  An application must be filed annually and absentee ballots are available for a registered voter who will be unable to vote at the polls on Election Day due to: 1.) absence from the voter’s city or town during normal polling hours; or 2.) physical disability preventing you from going to polling place; or 3.) religious belief.

Register to vote

The deadline to register to vote for the upcoming Annual Town Election which will be held on June 9, 2015 is May 20, 2015.  The registrar of voters will hold a voter registrations session until 8:00 pm at the Office of the Town Clerk, 20 Williams Street.

Annual Town Election Candidate Sign Information

In advance of the Annual Town Election please be advised of the following Town By-Law regarding the placing of campaign signs in the Town of Longmeadow.

Excerpt from 6-314:  (ii)  Temporary signs may be erected no sooner than sixty (60) days prior to the election or meeting at which the candidates or issue will be voted on and must be removed no later than two (2) days after such election or meeting.

**Per the Select Board policy on Objects on Town Tree-belts and Property:  Signs are not allowed on town property (i.e. tree belt) and will be removed by the sign enforcement officer and/or police. 

Work on Dwight Road

JL Construction Corporation will loam and seed on Dwight Road from Williams Street to Franconia Golf Course starting Wednesday, May 6th through Thursday May 7th.  There will be one lane traffic from 7am to 3:30pm.

Motorists should add a little extra time for traffic delays or plan to take another route to avoid congestion.

Quinnehtuk Road Closure

Effective May 1st, 2015 Quinnehtuk Road will be closed at Wolf Swamp Road at the direction of the Select Board as the Town studies the effect of this road closure. All traffic seeking to gain access to Quinnehtuk Road, Quinnehtuk Circle, and Clifford Lane must gain access via Frank Smith Road. The access at Wolf Swamp Road will be closed through June 30th, 2015.

Spring Hydrant Flushing

The Town of Longmeadow D.P.W. will begin spring hydrant flushing beginning April 27th through May 7th. Please click here for a map and more information.

Construction on Shaker Road

Lane Paving Corporation will be performing road milling and patching work on Shaker Road on Friday, April 24th.

Shaker Road, from Williams Street to Wolf Swamp Road, will be reduced to one-lane traffic beginning at 7am until 5pm.

Motorists should add a little extra commuting time for potential traffic delays or take another route to avoid congestion.

Road Work on Longmeadow Street at Cooley Brook

MassDOT is performing drainage work on Longmeadow Street starting the week of April 13th.  The Northbound lane on Longmeadow Street will be closed to through traffic on the week of  April 13th between Edgewood Avenue and Warren Terrace.   The road will be closed between 7:00 am and  3:30 pm.

Motorists should add a little extra time for traffic delays or plan to take another route to avoid congestion.
