Volunteer Positions Errand Runners
Volunteers are called upon to take a senior to an appointment or other errand. The volunteer may accept or refuse the request. The volunteer gets to know the senior while helping out at the same time, and all that is needed is a car and a helping hand.
The volunteer picks up the grocery orders from the client and goes to Big Y in Longmeadow to shop for the order, then returns to the client to deliver the order. Approval by a Center staff member is required for clients to use this service.
Meals-On-Wheels drivers are needed to deliver the noontime meal to elders in town. If you have a car and can spare a few hours at least 1 or more days per month, please call 413-565-4150. Hours are from approximately 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Training is provided. Bring along your spouse or a friend and become one of our valuable volunteers!
Pick up the food order for the Longmeadow Pantry at the Food Bank of Western Mass in Hatfield. Pick ups are done about once a month and the schedule is very flexible.
Drive the van (a mid-sized, 10-passenger vehicle) on short trips to local attractions or special events.
