  • ASSISTANT DAYCARE DIRECTOR- INTERNAL POSTING-The Town of Longmeadow, MA is seeking qualified applicants for the FT position of Assistant Daycare Director of Parks and Recreation.  The successful candidate must be energetic, team orientated, with strong communication skills and the ability to work with other departments.  Primary responsibilities are as a classroom teacher and to offer input on curriculum and marketing; will assume directors responsibilities on short term basis as needed.  MA EEC Certified Director I with four years in childcare and management experience or equivalent experiences as required by state law and regulations.   • DIRECTOR OF ADULT SERVICES-The Town of Longmeadow MA seeks FT Director of Adult Services. Under general supervision of the Town Manager, plans, organizes and controls the operations and activities of the Department of Adult Services.   Ability to establish goals and objectives, plan, prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete projects and work cooperatively as part of the administrative/ management team with high-functioning public relations and customer service skills. Assigns duties and reviews performance of all staff. Advocates and provides direct services for elders and at-risk adults, including the administration of the Senior Tax Abatement Program, Home Modification Funds, meals and transportation programs. Responsible for financial operations inclusive of budget and grant submittals. Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in gerontology or social services and 5 years of related work experience. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; proficient in Word and Excel. Salary DOQ/DOE. Excellent benefits.   • SUBSTITUTE LIBRARY ASSISTANT- Town of Longmeadow seeks substitute library assistant.  Hours will vary, must be available some Saturdays and week day evenings. Qualifications include 1-3 years of library experience, familiarity with current technology and online applications, knowledge of library policies, practices and procedures, and excellent communication skills.   • CROSSING GUARDThe Longmeadow Police Department is actively seeking two (2) full time crossing guards to work five (5) days per week; this would entail working a morning shift, and an afternoon shift, they run approximately 45 minutes in duration per crossing period.  Morning crossing starts at approximately 8:00 am with dismissal crossing at approximately 2:40 pm.   The Police Department crossing guards are responsible for ensuring the safety of children traveling to and from the Towns schools.  Work includes stopping traffic and escorting children safely across streets.  Compensation is currently set at $15.00 per hour.  For further information on the school crossing guard program, please contact Crossing Guard Supervisor Linda Mooney at 567-3311 ext 132. Tuberculosis (Tb) Test Information:

The Longmeadow Board of Health requires all new Longmeadow Public School employees who may have direct contact with students to provide documentation of testing for tuberculosis.  This testing must be performed within 90 days prior to employment.  Written results of TB skin tests performed by the Board of Health of your town of residence or at a physician’s office will also be accepted.  Please note that you may be charged for testing at these sites.

New, or re-hired, School Employees cannot start working until written documentation is received that he/she is free of the communicable form of tuberculosis.

Three days are required to obtain TB test results.  Individuals are tested and must return on the third day after the test to have their tests “read” and obtain the required documentation.

The Longmeadow Community Health Nurse, Carol Steiner, will perform this test free of charge by appointment on Monday or Tuesday from 9:00 – 2:30 p.m. and tests can be read by appointment on Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays during the hours of 9:00 – 2:30 p.m.
