  • TREASURY/COLLECTIONS SPECIALIST SR.- The Town of Longmeadow, MA is seeking qualified applicants for the full time position of Treasury/Collections Specialist Sr; 34 hours per week.  Reports to the Town Treasurer / Collector.  Responsibilities include receiving and processing payments and refunds, compiling deposits, performing bank transfers,  preparing and  issuing delinquency notices, reconciling accounts receivable, providing customer service, performing data entry, maintaining and updating records, compiling and updating information for department and public use, and providing clerical assistance as required for the department. Applicant should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, with advanced training in office procedures, computers, Microsoft Word and Excel, adding and office machines, and two (2) years of related office experience.   • ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT-INTERNAL POSTING- The Town of Longmeadow, MA is seeking qualified applicants for the PT position of Administrative Assistant to support in the Human Resources Department.  Work includes customer service, performing data entry, creating, maintaining and updating records, developing and maintaining spreadsheets to monitor department related information, audits, website maintenance, employment verifications, departmental correspondence and providing a variety of administrative functions.  A candidate for this position should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, with general human resource knowledge and advanced training in office procedures, computers, office machines, and two (2) years of related office experience.  Successful candidate must have strong organizational skills in a multi-task environment and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.  Starting salary $16.24 per hour; 19 hours per week; Mon-Thurs.   • ENGINEERING AIDE/GIS COORDINATOR-The Town of Longmeadow seeks a qualified Engineer Aide/GIS Coordinator.  Works under general direction of the Town Engineer and the DPW Director.   Provides technical support to the Water, Wastewater and Highway Divisions.  Updates towns GIS including water, sewer, drainage, road and assessors maps and town tree inventory.  Responsibilities include inspects construction projects and prepares record plans for road, sewer, water and drainage work either by in-house staffs or contractors; investigates water, sewer and drain complaints; performs dig-safe markings, prepares estimates and obtains price quotes for construction projects; operates computer aided drafting  and design (CADD) software; and performs routine surveys using transit and GPS/GIS devices.  Placement on the standby list and assists with snow plowing operations.  HS Diploma or equivalent with advanced training in engineering, math and/or construction, one (1) year of engineering or construction, AutoCAD experience, and MS Office proficiency, and familiarity with GPS/GIS equipment and programs.  Valid motor vehicle license.    Ability to manage multiple project assignments under occasional adverse weather and operating conditions.    Must have good interpersonal and communications skills, ability to work well with public, employees and other town departments; ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.  Salary range: $17.10- $19.26 per hour DOE/DOQ.   Full job description available from HR upon request.  Submit resume and cover letter to: Department of Human Resources, 735 Longmeadow Street, LongmeadowMA01106.  Posting closes 9/17/2014 at noon.  The Town of Longmeadow is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. 

 

  • LIBRARY TECHNICIAN –PT-Town of Longmeadow seeks PT Library Technician for immediate opening.  Approximately 18 hours per week working in Reference department.  Rotating Saturday and evening hours required. Essential qualifications include Bachelor’s Degree, 1-3 years’ experience with automated library systems such as Evergreen Integrated Library System, PC applications, experience with Library information tools and resources such as online databases and electronic materials, knowledge of library policies, practices and procedures and excellent communication skills.  Consideration will be given to any combination of education and experience that meets the needs of the department.  Salary $16.80 per hour.   • ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT OF OPERATIONS- The Town of Longmeadow, MA is seeking qualified applicants for the FT position of Assistant Superintendent of Operations.  Under the direction of the Director of Public Works, this is a position of high responsibility overseeing streets, sidewalks and drainage; snow removal; leaf removal; solid waste; and grounds operations.  Requires ability to handle a variety of projects, at times simultaneously; and to work with the department employees and general public.  Position requires a full working knowledge of all of the regulations, methods and equipment necessary to oversee and manage daily operations and to develop and implement long range operation and capital plans and develops annual budgets.  Develops and maintains SOP’s plans for operations, develops and implements PM plans for equipment and prepares specifications for bidding and schedules bidding and projects.  Applies for and implements grants.  Bachelors Degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, public administration or applicable field with a minimum of five years of municipal public works experience.  Advanced technical training/course work in civil, environmental, hydrology, pavement systems, soil mechanics, surveying is desirable.  Experience in Massachusetts municipal setting highly preferred.  Salary is DOQ. Tuberculosis (Tb) Test Information:

The Longmeadow Board of Health requires all new Longmeadow Public School employees who may have direct contact with students to provide documentation of testing for tuberculosis.  This testing must be performed within 90 days prior to employment.  Written results of TB skin tests performed by the Board of Health of your town of residence or at a physician’s office will also be accepted.  Please note that you may be charged for testing at these sites.

New, or re-hired, School Employees cannot start working until written documentation is received that he/she is free of the communicable form of tuberculosis.

Three days are required to obtain TB test results.  Individuals are tested and must return on the third day after the test to have their tests “read” and obtain the required documentation.

The Longmeadow Community Health Nurse, Carol Steiner, will perform this test free of charge by appointment on Monday or Tuesday from 9:00 – 2:30 p.m. and tests can be read by appointment on Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays during the hours of 9:00 – 2:30 p.m.
