Friends of the Library

The Hafer Local History and Genealogy Room was especially designed to house the Library’s important non-circulating historical and genealogical collections. Visitors are admitted upon presentation of a picture I.D. and are permitted to remain in the room only if accompanied by a member of the Library staff. Otherwise, materials are brought downstairs to be used in the Reference Room. Among the many items of interest are:

• Massachusetts town and county histories
• Family genealogies
• Census, military and church records
• Longmeadow Town Reports
• Street lists
• Diaries of the Reverend Stephen Williams
• Obituaries (1992-present)
