Imagineering

The Discovery Room offers two imagineering opportunities for children. Registration is on a monthly, first come, first served basis. Imagineering at the Library combines literature with creativity, imagination, and beginning engineering skills. Every month children will be presented with an engineering challenge based on a reading of the librarian's choice. Children will use LEGOS or DUPLOS to answer that challenge.

The completed LEGO projects and a description of that month's challenge will be displayed in the library.

The public is encouraged to come to the library to vote for their favorite LEGO project. Winners will receive a prize.

For information regarding our Imagineering groups or to inquire about registration, please call the Discovery Room at 565-4182.

Teen Volunteering

Teen Volunteering and the Teen Advisory Group are programs for kids in grades 5 and up. Involvement in either program will help kids develop a sense of responsibility and work ethic.

Teen Volunteers

Volunteer at the library for one hour a week. Choose after school Monday through Friday or during the day on Saturday. These dedicated and responsible young adults help library staff with shelving, shelf reading, preparing crafts, etc.

Summer Volunteers

Summer Volunteers work for one hour time periods throughout the summer. They have the important tasks of helping staff with shelving, shelf reading, filling in for Summer Readers, etc. There is always an end-of-summer ice cream party to thank volunteers for their help during the summer.

Summer Readers

Summer Readers are volunteers who sign up to read a book to young children during one of our summer story hours. Readers show up 15 minutes before story hour begins to familiarize themselves with the book they will read, help children with crafts during story hour, and stay 15 minutes after story hour to help staff clean up.
