Detective Bureau

The Longmeadow Police Department Detective Bureau responsibilities include, follow up investigations of casework initiated by 23 sworn patrol officers. In addition, the bureau initiates investigations involving both misdemeanor and felony crimes.

The unit consists of two detectives working with and under the control of the detective sergeant. Along with the unit’s investigative responsibilities, detective bureau personal act as court liaison officers in preparing case files and required court related documents. Bureau officers present all criminal show cause and magistrates hearings.

Assigned to Eastern Hampden County Drug Task Force. Confidential drug tip hotline, 413-583-5655. Call regarding selling or using of drugs in the towns of Longmeadow, East Longmeadow, Palmer, Wilbraham, Monson, Hampden, Agawam, Westfield and Southwick.

Detective bureau officers have completed many specialized training schools dealing with crime scene investigations, murder investigation, advanced evidence collection, latent finger print recovery, drug investigation, internal affairs legal and operational issues, rape investigations, internet crime, and crime scene photography.
