Charitable Fund For Animal Welfare

The Longmeadow Police Department has established a charitable fund for animal welfare and is seeking donations to support the cause.  A special account has been developed to which charitable, monetary donations can be made.  These donations will only be utilized for the care and housing of stray, domesticated animals (pets).

Currently, the police department employs a part-time, civilian Animal Control Officer to assist the police with loose, domesticated animals.  This Animal Control Officer is the consummate animal lover and is on call twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.  Often, the animals require food, medicine and other necessities which the Animal Control Officer typically pays for “out-of-pocket”.  The concern is finding a pet who has suffered a serious injury and not being able to immediately locate its owner.  With the availability of donations, the police department would be able to stabilize the animal at a local veterinarian hospital until the owner can be located.

The Longmeadow Police Department is reaching out to the residents who have had their pet safely returned to them or to anyone who wishes to help with this altruistic cause for animals.  Donations in any amount would be greatly appreciated.  Questions can be directed to the Longmeadow Police Department (413)567-3311.  Charitable donations can be made payable to:
