Extended Recycling Center Hours

Winter hours will be extended for the Longmeadow Recycling and Yard Waste Center starting on Saturday, March 10th.  The Center will be open ONLY on Saturdays from 9am-3pm until the Center opens fully again on March 31st.

Once the Center opens fully again on March 31st, the hours will be Saturday, 8am-5pm, Sunday, 10am-5pm and Wednesday, 10am-5pm.  The Center will be closed on Easter Sunday, April 8th.   A 2012 Recycling Center sticker is required in order to use the Recycling Center.

Citizen of the Year Nominations

Nominations for the annual “Citizen of the Year” award are now being accepted.  Letters of nomination should be sent to the Select Board’s office, 20 Williams Street, by April 20, 2012.

Special Town Election

The deadline to take out nomination papers for the Special Town Election to be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 is 5:00 pm on Friday, February 24, 2012.  The Town Clerk’s Office will be open until 5:00 pm.

Voter Registration, February 15, 2012

The last day to register to vote or change party affiliation for the March 6, 2012, Presidential Primary Election will be Wednesday, February 15, 2012.  The Registrar of Voters will hold a voter registration session at 20 Williams Street from 9:00 am – 8:oo pm.

Longmeadow Open Space and Recreation Plan

The 2012 Longmeadow Open Space Plan is complete and available on the Town of Longmeadow website: www.longmeadow.org. The Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP) was developed with assistance from the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission with funding provided by a District Local Technical Assistance Grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The OPRP plan not only identifies town goals for open space and recreation for 2012-2019 but provides statistical data about our open space and was updated to identify and meet the current and future needs of Longmeadow’s residents. Special Town Election

The Select Board voted at a meeting on January 31, 2012 to hold a Special Town Election on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 to fill the vacancy on the Select Board.  Deadlines are available on the Town Clerks Page.

Credit Card payments now accepted at the Town Clerks Office

The Longmeadow Town Clerk is pleased to announce that the office is now able to accept credit cards to pay for dog licenses, recycling stickers and copies of birth, marriage and death certificates at the office located at 20 Williams Street.  Read the rest of this entry »
