 A FEW FAREWELL WORDS

I have always been much better at "hellos" than "goodbyes! But here goes…

Please know of my heartfelt thanks to you for sharing your joys, sorrows and wisdom. It has been my pleasure to work at the Longmeadow Adult Center. I will miss you all! I was eager to come to work every day and be part of such a caring group.

Thank you also for your kind words and farewell gatherings. It was such an encouragement ~ what a send-off.

You have given me a lovely glimpse into gracious and satisfying retirement. I will remember you as my teachers of "living well." Now I have my retirement training wheels on and will try to balance successfully!

With appreciation,
Denise Perlaky, RN

Income Tax Preparation
AARP Tax-Aide is the nation's largest free, volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service. It is available to taxpayers with low- and moderate-incomes residents age 60 and older.
Approximately 34,600 AARP Tax-Aide volunteers, trained in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, now help more than 2.6 million taxpayers file their federal, state, and local tax returns.
Tax-Aide volunteers are trained to assist with filing the 1040 Form and the more standard of the schedules, including Schedules A and B. Taxpayers with complex tax returns are advised to seek paid tax assistance. Electronic filing (e-filing) is offered at most sites, with no charge to the taxpayer. E-filing ensures more accurate tax returns and faster processing of tax refunds.
The free, year-round assistance Tax-Aide offered via the Web allows taxpayers to pose questions to online volunteers 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from the comfort of home. To learn more, visit www.aarp.org/taxaide. Longmeadow residents should contact the Adult Center for an appointment: 565-4150.

BAYPATH PLAY "Once Upon a Mattress"
Friday, February 26th, 8:00 pm
Based on the beloved fairytale, "The Princess and the Pea", this play centers around Price Dauntless, the Drab, and his quest for a royal bride. $10.00 for seinors. Call the Adult Center prior to stopping by to see if the tickets have arrived-565-4150.

The Census is Coming!
Every person counted in their community impacts 10 years of funding, representation, and allocation of public services and infrastructure. For every 100 people not counted, a community loses an estimated $1.2 million in federal funds for programs.
Census forms will be mailed to households in March 2010 and must be mailed back by April 1, 2010. Households that don't mail them back will be visited by a census worker up to 7 times!
Therefore it is in everyone's best interest to mail back the form right away. For people living in groups quarters such as nursing homes, prisons, dorms, and shelters, a census worker will visit in April/May to count.
The census form is only one page long. It is available in a number of different languages. By law, census info cannot be shared with any other agency, including the IRS or immigration officials. Answers on census forms will have no bearing whatsoever on anyone's benefits, housing, immigration status, taxes, employment, education, or qualification for any program or service.

Call The Longmeadow Adult Center for any other assistance 565-4150.
