Absentee
Ballot Applications
Absentee ballot applications are available in the Town Clerks
Office for the following:
A registered
voter who will be unable to vote at the polls on election day due
to:
1. absence from your city or town during normal polling hours; or
2. physical disability preventing you from going to the polling
place; or
3. religious belief;
OR
1. a non-registered
voter who is a Massachusetts citizen absent from the state; or
2. an active member of the armed forces or merchant marines, their
spouse or dependent;
3. a person confined in a correctional facility or a jail, except
if by reason of felony conviction.
The application
may be filed by the voter in person or through the mail. An immediate
family member may also file an application on behalf of a voter.
Absentee ballots
may be voted in person during regular business hours otherwise the
ballot must be mailed. Taking the ballot out of the office is prohibited.
The ballot must be mailed back to the Town Clerk or hand delivered
to the Town Clerks Office. Ballots can not be accepted at
the polls during the election.
