?"Do you ever wonder why it's so hard for people to make good investment decisions? The good news is that it isn't YOUR fault! It's human biology that makes us all pretty poor investment decision makers.
Come to a presentation by Larry Starr who runs a retirement consulting and actuarial firm in West Springfield. This is a presentation where there is nothing to buy, even if you want to! Larry does not sell investments or insurance or anything like that. His company does all the accounting and legal work for retirement plans, makes sure all the money shows up in the right places, and helps keep his small business clients in compliance with all the complicated rules.
His presentation is titled "We Are All Investment Idiots: An Introduction To Behavioral Economics". You will learn the WHY of why we do what we do, what things you can do to make better long term decisions, and also have the opportunity to ask any questions on any financial topic (including retirement of course) that are on your mind.
Larry has a ton of professional designations. He is a Chartered Life Underwriter, a Certified Employee Benefit Speciality, a Certified Pension Consultant, a Chartered Financial Consultant, and a Qualified Plan Financial Consultant, among other industry designations. He is also an Enrolled Agent which authorizes him to practice before the IRS and represent clients, the same as any lawyer or CPA. Larry has an MBA in economics and finance and has received his industry's two highest awards; Educator Of The Year, and the industry's highest award for continuing and lifetime service to the retirement industry. Larry taught for many years at the University of Connecticut and has written a number of books in his field. He is a faculty member of the Boston Tax Institute and has taught over 40 courses on zoom for BTI since the pandemic started. He lectures extensively around the country and is Senior Editor of the Journal of Pension Benefits where he is also a regular author. He is Senior Advisor to Government Affairs of the American Retirement Association and has been actively involved in helping draft much of the pension legislation over the last 30 years.
We promise you will enjoy the presentation, and you might learn some very interesting things about how we all make decisions that often aren't in our best interests."
